Review | $20 ACURE Whipped Night Cream

I am excited to formally introduce you to my Quarantine Gem: a.k.a. the ACURE Radically Rejuvenating Whipped Night Cream. I found this affordable moisturizer on one of those Whole Foods trips where you end up spending 30 unplanned minutes in the beauty aisle… then come home with three new products that don’t necessarily count as “buys” because they are groceries… kind of. At least that is how I explained the warm produce situation to my boyfriend.

Anyways, I discovered this ACURE moisturizer on a grocery run last spring in the peak of quarantine and officially count the product as one of my 2020 highlights (the bar wasn’t set high… but still). If you have used Drunk Elephant’s Protini Polypeptide Moisturizer ($68) in the past, be prepared to save some coin. The ACURE moisturizer has almost an identical ingredient make-up to Drunk Elephant’s for a fraction of the price (note: the textures are different).

The Product

This moisturizer became a fast favorite of mine (and at least 3 of my best friends as well) because of it’s creamy texture, strong performance, and fragrance-free formula. If you know me, you know I prefer minimal fragrance in my skincare and this one hits the mark. It also plays well with others, meaning I can easily mix a hydrating serum or oil into this product for a speedy one-step routine before bed. Lately, I have been using Biossance’s Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil but would consider trying ACURE’s Marula Oil for an affordable option as well.

I’d recommend the product to any skin type, whether you are sensitive, acne-prone, dry, etc. As someone who is prone to breakouts, I do prefer this creamy whipped texture at night and typically use a gel cream during the day. Also, if you’re new to skincare and not sure where to start… start here (after all, you only need a cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF!).

If I could change something about this product, it would be its packaging. I like that the tube doesn’t require me to stick a finger directly into the product (bacteria!), but it is challenging to squeeze those final uses out of the tube. I typically prefer an air-tight pump for serums and moisturizers.

I often buy the cream in-person at Whole Foods because it seems to always be sold out online (it must be THAT good!) — you can find the brand on their website or at Target and Ulta Beauty as well.

The Brand

Although I have only tried two ACURE products thus far, I have found them both to be gentle formulas I’d repurchase. The Incredibly Clear Charcoal Scrub is the only physical exfoliator in my collection… but may earn a permanent spot in the rotation because I enjoy using it on my face, neck, and chest once or twice per week in the shower.

ACURE’s tagline is “100% vegan. 0% pretentious.” I can’t find much intel on the brand’s story or founders from the website, which may be worth looking into elsewhere. Since I have not explored much of their range, I can only recommend the moisturizer and facial scrub mentioned above at this time.

As always, please reach out with questions — I am always happy to chat!
